Diary Of A Nearly Man (Alan Stutz)

Diary Of A Nearly Man (Alan Stutz)
Product Information

PUBLICATION DATE: 17th November 2008.  LIMITED EDITION HARDBACK (210x148mm), 320 pages incl 2 x 8 page colour plate sections.

Dubbed Britain's "least well-known fashion enigma", for thirty years  Alan Stutz has kept a daily diary.  Now in his first book in almost fifty years the real life, true diaries of Stutz’s early years in his hometown of Bedford are brought together; all the highs and lows recounted as they actually happened.

Haven’t heard of him?  Well let’s face it, how many people in Britain had heard of Hitler before he invaded Poland?  That doesn’t mean that Stutz has anything in common with the former German Fürher, but his hilarious life story will certainly invade your mind!

Stutz may not be as well-known as fashion gurus such as Yves Saint Laurent but he has hobnobbed with some of the rich and famous.  Read his stories involving Britt Ekland, Kate Bush and the (then) Environment Secretary Michael Heseltine.  His encounters with many from the world of rock music including Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Status Quo, Deep Purple, The Stray Cats, Kiss, Slade’s Don Powell and the legendary Rough Mix are also detailed throughout this incredible tome.

In addition to all this, how many people do you know that have also walked through plate glass doors unscathed, been stopped drunk in possession of a push bike two nights running or invited a girl out on a date to her own birthday party?

All the ups and downs of the Nearly Man are documented in this Monty Python-esque tome.  Stutz might not be as famous as Michael Palin, but his diaries guarantee more laughter than a hyena!  This is undoubtedly the funniest book he has ever written.

For a so-called "ordinary, run of the mill" man, Alan Stutz has had more than his fair share of extraordinary events that have helped to colour and offset his otherwise dull wardrobe!
Wine, women and song, might be one way to describe the majority of escapades that fashioned Stutz's days in his hometown, however, Guinness, girls and gigs is a more accurate description.  They are the catalyst for the many hilarious events that have shaped the Nearly Man as he struggled to wrestle with drunken calamities, a string of girls that packed him in, and plenty of loud rock 'n' roll.

The number of girls that refused to even talk to him on account of his appalling dress sense is offset by the many wonderful memories that Stutz recalls in the world of entertainment with the aforementioned rock stars plus his conflict with political heavyweight Lord Heseltine and a bag of soil!

Behind his truly inexcusable jumpers, worn-out trainers and twenty-year old t-shirts, lies a man of wit, wisdom and more Cramps records than any self-respecting person would own up to!  A man who has ventured to Stafford Bingley Hall more than once, been snubbed by Swedish actress Britt Ekland and even attempted to shoot Kate Bush! (With a camera).

This is the true-life story of Britain's most inconsequential style-guru and his attempts to not change the world but himself, with nothing more than a Zorki 4K Rangefinder and an eight-foot scarf that his mum knitted.

This book will have a particular appeal to music fans as Stutz recalls numerous gigs he attended over the years from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Rush, AC/DC, Status Quo, Queen, and many, many more!
